Why should you have mergTech perform third-party inspections?
Having your commercial vehicles inspected by a truly independent third party ensures you receive an unbiased, accurate assessment of their condition without the pressure of upselling or unnecessary repairs. There is no financial incentive to exaggerate issues. mergTech will not make any referrals or recommendations about who should repair any defects discovered during our inspection. This objectivity builds trust, protects your bottom line, and gives you confidence that any repair recommendations are genuinely in your best interest.
The inspection report and 24/7 access to your online inspection dashboard
The inspection report will include descriptions and pictures of all defective items. However, with an additional agreement, you can access an online portal to gain complete visibility and control over your fleet’s health in one easy-to-use platform. Instead of relying on scattered paperwork or delayed updates, you can monitor inspections in real time, track defects as they’re reported, and ensure maintenance is scheduled before small problems turn into costly downtime.
What is inspected?
While commercial drivers are responsible for daily pre-trip inspections, there are many critical components underneath the hood and underneath the vehicle that they cannot be expected to evaluate without specialized training and experience to identify issues early. Here is a list of items typically inspected
What is not inspected?
The inspections do not cover items that drivers should be able to reasonably inspect. Items not inspected by mergTech include typical items on a commercial driver’s pre-trip checklist, such as lights, reflectors, safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers and triangles), interior items (e.g., mirrors, seating, seatbelts), and body components (e.g., doors, windows, hatches).
Additional things to consider
- All inspections are performed in-place on your premises–inspectors do not drive the vehicles for any reason
- You provide safe access to the vehicle(s).
- mergTech inspects vehicles that are free of soil and other obstructions that will prevent thorough visual inspection.
- Inspections are visual and observational only; the inspector does not dismantle, repair, diagnose, or test components beyond reasonable checks
- A paved or concrete surface is required to allow the technician to easily and safely roll underneath the entire unit for thorough inspection
- The final decisions regarding the use, purchase, sale, or operation of any vehicle remain solely with you.
- Inspection prices range from $50 to $175 per unit, depending on the specific unit being inspected. Travel to and from the inspection location is priced separately and will be quoted according to the distance.
